How To Write An Effective Product Review

Product reviews are an excellent way to drive traffic to your site and to generate sales and writing your own product review is much more effective than using one provided for you by the product vendor. By writing your own product reviews not only will you not be using the same content as all the other affiliates of this product, but you will also be branding yourself as a reliable source of good information that your subscribers can rely on.
Don’t you rely on the recommendations of a friend or trusted acquaintances more than you do the commercial that you see for a product, restaurant, or even a movie? I know that I do. And that is exactly how you should write your review, as if you were having a conversation with a close friend and you were recommending that great movie you saw last weekend.
I know that the thought of writing your own product review sends a shudder up the spine of most marketers, especially those that are just getting started. The fact of the matter is, you don’t need to be an expert copywriter, a best selling author or even have written a product review before to write an effective review. You just need to write in your own words what you think of the product and be a friend recommending a product or service. You don’t have to be a professional critic or even an expert on the subject.
Below I have included a simple six step outline that you can use to write your product reviews.
- Introduction
Here is where you explain what the product is about,
who wrote or designed the product, the product name,
and your relationship with the product.BE HONEST! If you are an affiliate for this product or
service, or a member, be up front about it and state that
relationship here. - What Problem Does The Product Solve?
Making sales is all about problem solving.
Describe the problem or problems that your product will
solve for your potential customer. Remeber to include how
the product solved your problem and made your life better. - What Does the Product Promise?
You can gather this information from the products sales page.
You want to emphasize benefits rather than features here. - How Well Does the Product Work?
Write a short description of the products operation. It’s best if you
actually own and use the product. If you don’t own the product,
search for reviews on this product that others have written and
rewrite them in your own words. - What’s the Products Downside?
Describe what you didn’t like about the product or what you think
could have been done better. You don’t want to trash the product here,
but every product or service has something that you wish had been
included or done better. Describe those areas here. - Is The Product Worth The Money?
Use this section of your product review to tell your reader why they
should buy the product. Again, emphasize the product benefits, not
features.
